Tour

DAY 1: Ciudad Colon – Manuel Antonio

Departure from Ciudad Colón, climbing towards Tabarcia by very “dirt bike – enduro paths, crossing coffee plantations, mountain vegetation, pine forests over 6560 ft (2000 mts).  We descend to the Valley Ojo de Orca, to climb back up to an elevation of 7875 ft (2400 mts) to the town of San Francisco, where we have a typical lunch at a private coffee estate farm. After lunch, we descend again towards Pirris, passing over the dam and its reservoir. We will enjoy incredible views of high mountains, where the best coffee in Costa Rica grows, in the zone known as “Los Santos” (“The Saints”). This is followed by a complete change of climate and vegetation due to a 100 ft (30 mts) decent in a tropical rain forest that leads directly to the Pacific coast while  crossing giant palm plantations.  We arrive in Manuel Antonio, Quepos to the Pacific seaside resort.

DAY 2: Manuel Antonio – El Sur

After bathing in the turquoise waters of the Pacific, we leave for Manuel Antonio, traveling along the coast, with the unique privilege of walking on deserted beaches – one of a kind experiences! Once again penetrating the mountains and their rain forests, walking in an amazing variety of red earth winding roads, crossing many rivers and banana plantations, to arrive at a beautiful eco-lodge hotel in the town of “El Sur” with a stunning tropical environment!

DAY 3: El Sur – Montezuma

We descend once again to the Pacific Coast, to the fishing village of Tarcoles. There we enjoy a boat trip on the Tarcoles River estuary to see up close the giant, spectacular crocodiles! We then cross the river again with the bikes on a small boat, (watch out for the crocodiles!) – a full adventure! Riding along the wild coast, we arrive at the port of Puntarenas, to mount the bikes on a ferry that will take us to the Nicoya Peninsula, so as to reach Montezuma.

 DAY 4: Montezuma – Carmona

We will then follow the coast to the southern tip of the peninsula, alternating between beaches and rain forests – this place is stupendous and very wild.  Crossing Malpaís, a fishing village, and then arrive at Santa Teresa, a small seaside resort for the “jet set” and surfers from around the world.  We then reenter the lands of the peninsula, full of beautiful roads, arriving at a private estate in the rural areas of Guanacaste.

DAY 5: Carmona – La Gloria

After leaving the farm we go down technical paths overlooking the Gulf of Nicoya, a really magical experience! Upon arriving at Naranjo beach we take the ferry once again to Puntarenas. From there we cross the Carara National Park and it slippery clay earth – fine piloting required! We travel to  Jaco, land of surf and gigantic waves! And once again travel to the mountains to a jungle eco-lodge and wildlife rescue center –  a “Pura Vida” hotel.

DAY 6: La Gloria – Volcan Turrialba

This is a long and varied stage, by gravel roads to Puriscal, a town devastated by an earthquake several years ago, to have lunch in the city of Cartago, holy city and former capital of Costa Rica. After having left behind tropical landscapes, coffee plantations, pine forests, the afternoon holds a surprise.  We have a total change of panorama, the ascent to the famous perpetually active Turrialba volcano. Here we discover landscapes we might find in the Swiss Alps, travel virgin lawn bike paths, colors changing at every moment, to reach the hotel lodge and dairy at the foot of the majestic Turrialba volcano with a thermal shock between the temperatures of 95°F (35° celsius) in the morning to 50° F (10° celsius) at 11,150 feet (3400 metres) of elevation of the volcano! This is the cherry on the sundae! We take a private road around the volcano – a dream of any dirt bike rider for its varied lunar landscape! Here we enjoy a traditional country environment at this diary which produces its own cheese and food from lamb found on the farm. The spectacle of the volcano at dawn spewing her white smoke, a magical experience!

DAY 7: Volcan Turrialba – Rio Pacuare

Two options are presented today, one stage on motorcycle descending from the Turrialba volcano from an elevation of 11,150 feet (3400 mts) to the Caribbean coast, or day of pure adrenaline, going down the River “Pacuare” on raft to the city of Siquirres near the coast.

DAY 8: Siquirres – Ciudad Colon

From the Caribbean coast to San Jose, crossing once again, completely different landscapes. Cane plantations, primary jungle, Orosi Valley, 150 miles (240 kilometers) of pure pleasure, reaching the sunrise over the Central Valley, with views of San José and its city night scape!! The journey ends here!
